I have been a nutrition and fitness coach for the past 20 years and the number one thing I know is that you have most likely spent years eating less and working out more because that is what you see on social media. Here's what's really happening: 

  • Your metabolism adjusts — when you keep cutting calories, your body gets used to it and starts burning less. That’s why you can be eating “hardly anything” and still not lose weight. You actually have to feed your body properly again so it can trust you — with enough real food, especially protein.

  • You lose muscle, not just fat — and muscle is what helps your body burn more calories all day long, even when you’re resting. So the less muscle you have, the harder it becomes to keep the weight off. 

  • Doing more workouts doesn’t fix itin fact, it can make things worse. When you’re pushing hard every day with circuit style classes and long runs, your body doesn’t get a chance to recover. You’re running on stress hormones instead of strength. What actually works is fewer, smarter workouts, lower intensity cardio, taking true rest days, and fueling properly. 

 

I know because I’ve been in your shoes

In my 20s, my nutrition was all about eating less, and my workouts were endless HIIT circuits with a few token lifts — bouncing from the treadmill to the bike until my face turned tomato red. And sure, it worked… until it didn’t.
When I hit my 40s, everything changed. I felt puffy, exhausted, and stuck. The harder I pushed, the worse it got.

After years of trying to “fix” it, I finally unlocked what actually works for this phase of life. My body now looks and feels better than ever — because I stopped restricting and started training smarter.
